Find quick answers to common questions about our programs, tournaments, registration, and more, everything you need to stay connected with McPherson Wrestling Club.
USA Wrestling age classes are 6 & under, 8 & under, 10 & under, 12 & under, and 14 & under. We have many 5-year-olds practicing and attending tournaments, but do not encourage 4-year-olds to begin competing due to maturity.
Your wrestler age division is determined by what their current age is on or after September 1st.
Each child must pay Club dues to take part in practices and tournaments. These dues cover the costs of USA Wrestling membership, liability insurance, equipment, and apparel.
At the start of each season, there is a two-week grace period for kids to try out the sport without paying dues. After this period, payment is required. You can register on our website under the Registration section.
After registering with the club, you are given chili feed tickets the first week of practice to sell to family members or the community. These tickets are $10 a piece and you get to keep the money! This program is to give families the ability to reimburse the full registration fee, therefore, if you sell all your tickets you wrestle for free! These tickets are utilized for our annual community chili feed supper in December.
Our website www.mcphersonwrestlingclub.com is the location for all registration, documents, team schedule, and events for the season.
The phone app called Band is for parents to see important reminders or notifications. This is also used for uploading photos throughout the season!

You will need to navigate to www.trackwrestling.com to register your child. Please reference the tutorials below in the Document Library section to become familiar with the process. Once you register on Track, we ask that you go to the Tournament Sign-up section of our website to fill out the form, so coaches know who all is going to each tournament to help better support them on the mat.
There currently are two criteria separation divisions within majority of tournaments which are Novice and Open.
Novice - Typically, this child has 1-2 years of experience wrestling. This division is meant for beginners to assist the kids to learn the fundamentals and learn to love the sports. If your child is winning or placing in majority of Novice tournaments, it is strongly recommended to move your child up to the Open division. Please consult our head coach for recommendations.
Open - This division is for experienced wrestlers with 3+ years of experience. Even though this division may be very challenging when you first move from Novice, this level of wrestling will take your child to the next level, and they will adapt quickly.
When registering on Trackwrestling, it's essential for parents to accurately rate their child's skill level. Tournament directors use these ratings to create brackets that ensure the fairest matches possible. Please take the time to rate your wrestler correctly so every child has the best opportunity to develop a love for the sport!
Most tournaments use the following rating scale for individual wrestlers:
A or Excellent: State Placer or nationally ranked
B or Good: State Qualifier or typically finishes in the top 3 at tournaments
C or Average: Average wrestler
D or Beginner: Beginner
No, during the folkstyle season we require all children to wear the club singlets (State qualifiers may wear club state singlets). The reasoning is to represent MAC Wrestling Club as a team! During offseason (folkstyle, freestyle, & Greco) you may wear any custom singlet of your choice, even if you are affiliated with our club.
